Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

The short version: SalaryScope does not collect your name, email, location, or any identifying information. We store one thing in your browser: your currency preference. That is it. It never leaves your device.

1. What We Do Not Collect

  • No name, email address, or account — there is no account system
  • No location data — we do not ask for or infer your location
  • No cross-site tracking or browsing history
  • No fingerprinting or device identification
  • No payment or financial information
  • No data sold to third parties

2. What We Do Store

Browser localStorage (your device only)

When you select a currency, we store that preference in your browser's localStorage under the key salaryscope_fx_rates. This also caches exchange rates so you do not re-download them on every page load.

localStorage is not a cookie. It is not transmitted to our server and is not accessible to other websites. It lives entirely in your browser. Clearing your browser site data for salaryscope.co removes it completely.

We store nothing else in localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, or any other browser storage.

Server access logs

Our web server records standard HTTP access logs: IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp, and referring URL. These are used for security monitoring and aggregate analytics. We do not build user profiles from these logs. Logs are deleted after 30 days and are not shared with third parties except where legally required.

3. Third-Party Services

Google AdSense

SalaryScope displays Google AdSense advertisements. Google uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads. This is standard Google advertising behaviour — SalaryScope has no visibility into Google's data collection. Google's practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. To opt out of personalised ads: google.com/settings/ads.

Google Fonts

We load the Inter font from Google Fonts, which causes your browser to contact Google's servers. Google may log your IP address. We have no control over this. The site is fully functional without web fonts if you disable them in your browser.

Frankfurter / ECB exchange rates

Exchange rates are fetched by our server from frankfurter.app on your behalf. Your browser never contacts frankfurter.app directly. No identifying information about you is included in this request.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, GDPR gives you rights over your personal data. Because we collect almost none, these rights have limited practical application here — but they exist. You have the right of access, erasure, objection, and portability. Contact: privacy@salaryscope.co

Our legal basis for processing server access logs is legitimate interests under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — security and fraud prevention.

6. California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. We collect no personal information beyond server access logs (see §2). CCPA requests: privacy@salaryscope.co

7. Cookies

SalaryScope sets no first-party cookies. We use localStorage instead of cookies for the currency preference. Google AdSense will set its own advertising cookies if active. Manage those via your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools.

8. Children

SalaryScope is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Concerns: privacy@salaryscope.co

9. Changes

If we change how we handle data in a meaningful way, the last updated date at the top will change. We will not retroactively make our privacy practices worse without a prominent notice.
